Get Price into Proportion | How Price Impacts Image

Posted On - 02/01/2013 12:03:56

Target's National Price Comparison - a unique survey helping IT SMEs get their pricing rightIn October 2012 we completed a Price Comparison. We did it because I see so many Indies who don't do them for themselves or get them wrong. And we realised we could help you save time and make more money if we did one for you. So we asked 100 customers about pricing and sales across 60 of our biggest moving lines. We also included the best prices the Big Guys could offer.

Everyone got a confidential personalised report. Detail on how they compared plus pricing and stocking opportunities. The headline?

Your prices average a huge 15% better than the Big Guys.

Surprised? Always knew it? Thing is, how can it be true if you haven't already driven them out of business!? Is it consumers just don't know about you? Or are there other reasons?

The Comparison also proved the relationship between price and sales is less clear than you'd think. It shows superior sales don't result from ever cheaper prices. Some of the most dissatisfied participants were exceptionally low priced. No, it shows other factors are critical to people choosing to shop where they do.

Price always matters. But as our recent Retail Price Comparison shows, relying on it will destroy you. Price ignores the reasons why prospects switch. But the answer isn't to ignore price, just get it in proportion. To do much, much more to promote things like convenience, expertise and trustworthiness. For advice see "Fight Your Corner".

At our Open Day we presented the Comparison to over 100 customers. We've had great feedback and businesses are already making changes for the better. And we'll be doing it again - this time including details of the services you offer. Things like virus removal, PC tune up and so on. Like to take part? Click here to sign up.
